Description

Plant-derived nanovesicles (PDNVs) are submicroscopical vesicles surrounded by a lipid-enriched membrane and containing different natural bioactive compounds, including vitamins, antioxidants, proteins, nucleic acids and other metabolites. All these bio-compounds have shown to maintain their biological activities when uploaded to target cells. Our innovation starts from having purified, concentrated and tested PDNVs from organic agriculture-derived fruits and vegetables.

Italian organic agriculture derivation:

All plants derive from certified organic farming. Organic production is not only the avoidance of conventional chemical pesticides and microbicides; actually it relies on the use of ecological processes and natural cycles adapted to local conditions (e.g. seasonal harvesting), aiming to maintain biological diversity and produce food in an eco-sustainable way. Different agriculture practices may influence plant’s metabolism, leading to differences in crop composition also reflecting on the fruit and vegetable harvesting and therefore on the yield of the internal components of the plants, including nanovesicles. In a recent work it has been shown as nanovesicles isolated from organic-derived agriculture have higher antioxidant content compared to nanovesicles isolated from nanovesicles deriving from fruits and vegetables provided from conventional agriculture.

Isolation method and freeze-drying process:

ITbio-PDNVs™ are isolated from fruit juices through serial rounds of centrifugation and ultracentrifugation in a sterile condition. Freeze-drying process doesn’t alter physico-chemical characteristics of PDNVs.

Characterization:

ITbio-PDNVs™ are measured through Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) to analyze number and size, and the expression of TET8 (Tetraspanin-8).

Form:

In each vial are provided 2×1010 IT-PDNVs in lyophilized form.

Storage instruction:

ITbio-PDNVs™ are shipped at +2-8 °C and can be stored at +4°C for a short time and at -80°C for no more than 1 year. It is recommended to aliquot PDNVs in the desired volume and store asap -80°C (active for up to 1 year). Avoid repeated freeze-and thaw cycles.

Application:

ITbio-PDNVs™ are isolated and purified in sterile condition, in order to allow in vitro and in vivo studies depending on the costumer use, including drug delivery studies.
